This qualitative study explored the strategies employed in managing student learning behavior at Vinisitahan National High School in Bacacay, Albay, Division for the School Year 2024-2025. It addressed the following sub-problems: 1) What are the strategies employed in managing students' learning behavior? 2) How do the strategies affect in managing students' learning behavior? 3) What are the challenges encountered on the use of strategies for managing student learning behavior? and 4) What plan of action may be proposed to address these challenges? The study employed a phenomenological approach to provide a holistic understanding of the participants' experiences and perspectives.
The participants consisted of sixteen (16) senior high school teachers, selected based on their roles in managing student behavior. Data collection was conducted through in-depth semi-structured interviews held from September to October. The interview guide, validated by two (2) Public Schools District Supervisor of Albay, Division and one (1) Guidance Counselor of Malilipot District, Albay, Division, comprised open-ended questions aligned with the study objectives. Interviews were conducted at Vinisitahan National High School in a manner that ensured the participants’ convenience and comfort, lasting 20-30 minutes each, and were recorded for analysis.
Three (3) themes emerged regarding the strategies employed in managing student learning behavior: (1) Positive and Inclusive Learning Environment, (2) Behavioral Challenges with Empathy and Structured Interventions, and (3) Collaboration with Parents and the School Community. For the effects of these strategies, two (2) themes surfaced: (1) Classroom Environment and Design, and (2) Technology Integration. Furthermore, two (2) themes highlighted the challenges encountered: (1) Diversity and Individualized Needs of Students, and (2) Resistance and Behavior Management. These findings reflect a comprehensive approach to behavior management with a strong emphasis on inclusivity, empathy, and collaboration.
